"The University Research Institute of Applied Communication (URIAC) in collaboration with the New Technologies Lab of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens organise a series of events under the title “Hybrid City”. The events take place in Athens, Greece and consist of a Workshop, a two day Symposium and an Exhibition of the work formed after the completion of the Workshop. This site provides detailed information regarding the “Hybrid City” events, as well as the concept behind them.

The “Hybrid City” events are realised in the context of the “Global Gateway” project of the EU-funded programme “Civil Society Dialogue - Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture”. The Global Gateway project is closely connected with the fact that Istanbul was proclaimed the 2010 European Capital of Culture. Therefore, besides promoting the EU-Turkey Civil Society Dialogue as such, one of the project´s main objectives is to foster the Turkish capital´s role as a cultural catalyst within emerging creative domains such as experimentation with mew media interfaces and techniques as well as art/science"
